I love this place, I can get my hometown Flint Coney, with Detroit Chili on the fries. They also remember my order exact everytime.

This place is fantastic. I had a bacon ranch dog. My daughter had a ripped bacon cheese dog. My other family members had chili dogs. Everyone loved their meal. The fries were fantastic with their homemade ranch. We also sampled a cheeseburger which was one of the best we have ever had. Go here. You will not be disappointed!

I used to go to this place all the time when I lived in Grand Rapids. This place is actually really good. I would always order a grilled cheese with lettuce, tomato, and bacon (basically a BLT). The price was just right for the amount of food I received, and the service was always very friendly.

Good food and personable service. Loved that they offered Vernors on their fountain machine.

I happened upon this little slice of heaven as I walked past it on my way to the Chinese place next door. In the mood for something different, I walked in and have never looked back. The price is right, the food is made fresh and delicious, and the staff is some of the friendliest you will ever meet. That day, they made a new regular out of me, and I've been coming here on my lunch break from Kendall almost every day since.

Love the dogs. Burgers look amazing... Malts are off the chain good. Get a flint and be happy. mom says it's the best burger she's had in a long time!

I didn't know what to expect at first, I mean, it's just a hot dog, right? Wrong!! They load up their dogs with so many different toppings. I had the chicago dog, picasso pepper dog, and chili cheese fries. The chicago and chili cheese fries were ok, but I fell in love with that picasso pepper dog! It had jalapeños and banana peppers and it had enough heat to give it a kick. They have different toppings to satisfy for whatever you're in the mood for. I will definitely be returning!

Still the only issue here is the hours. We just happened to downtown tonight and wanted a quick bite and got lucky.

I cannot get enough of this place. The dogs and fries are so good. I rarely eat french fries when I go out, but I cannot miss them here. Hand cut and fried to perfection. And speaking of fried, get the ripped hot dogs. A little crunchy all around good. So many toppings you could eat there every day and never have the same dog twice. I wish the parking situation were a little better, but still worth the trip.

This is the real deal right here.Their hot dogs are Koegels as they should be. Their "Detroit" coney, which is really just a coney, is done properly.,their Chicago dog likewise. Both are excellent. But this place is the best in the city becasue of its creativity. they have different mustards and Ketchups, like "curry ketchup" and other wild flavors, they have Siracha hot sauce, which of course is the best. Most importantly they have these really wild hot dogs that sound like they might not work, but do. i had a deep fried dog wrapped in bacon with ranch dressing. INCREDIBLE!!! They have all kinds of stuff like that. They also have Belgian fries, which are good.THIS is the place you want to take your friends from out of town. If you take them to Yesterdog, they'll say they like it to be polite, but inside they're thinking they could have gotten this at the local carnival.

Out of this world delicious hot dogs and fries. Absolutely the best in the Grand Rapids area hands down (I love hot dogs and have probably tried them all). Koegel dogs are perfectly prepared. Frites/Fries are also incredibly delicious and it's nice to have a variety of ketchup flavors to try. Very busy during ArtPrize but the order was taken and served quickly in a friendly manner. Had a Chicago Dog and it was perfect with the necessary neon green relish, mustard, crisp tomato and crunchy pickle. Just the right amount of celery salt. My lunch partner had the GR Chili Dog and said it was the best he had ever had...just as good if not better than the popular places in Detroit and Flint. Since we are originally from Chicago we have eaten hot dogs & fries at many wonderful places but after today I will say One Stop tops them all and is on par with Doug's in Chicago as far as quality and taste.

When they first opened myself and friends went down and checked it out, only to find the owners to be very pretentious, pushing their Belgian Frites with dipping sauces as the focus of the restaurant with the coney being almost an after thought even though it's on the front of the building. Fast forward a few years to the present, the frites are now fries and they're putting out some of the best coneys around. I can tell you for certain the Flint dog is the best I've had, and I grew up in Flint, it's served on a quality bun(I love Mr. Bread when I'm in flint, but this is better), with tons of flint style sauce, mustard, and onions, it's probably twice the size of most dogs you'll get in Flint right now. The Detroit dog is as good as you'll find outside of maybe American or Lafayette in Detroit.

I travel to Grand Rapids from Chicago regularly and have tried just about all the GR hot dog joints. One Stop in HANDS DOWN the best. Serving Kogel Dogs that have a great snap. Tons of variety to choose from but i usually stick w/ the Flint or Detroit dogs.. the Coney and Flint "sauce" are both very good. Also, the burgers here are really good.. Seared so the edges are a bit crisp and just the right amount of grease. Great if i've spent a little too much time at Founder's or another watering hole the night before. Fries and dipping sauces also wonderful. Yesterdog gets all the hype and i don't get it..their food is pretty gross. Guess it got the late-night thing going, but if you want a quality dog during daylight hours, One Stop is where you want to go.

Wow! All these reviews are from??? This was our worst experience yet ever in any GR restaurant. When we arrived, there was 1 person working the counter. Two folks in front of us ordered and he started their order. Then he took our simple order, 2 Chicago dogs w/fries. Then a large group arrived and he took their order. He looked distressed and called for help. sometime had passed when we saw our dogs sitting on the counter. They sat for at least 5 minutes. The large group behind us started getting their order while our dogs sat unattended. Finally they put the toppings on. Then they had to cook the fries... When the food arrived the dogs were cold and naturally not very good. The fries were pretty good but they only give you like 12 fries. So, overall a very bad first impression. Awful service, overpriced and not very good dogs. We will never go back. For a real hot dog experience, go to my hometown and visit the Wiener Circle on Clark Street, Chicago IL. Great dogs with tons of fries. Hopefully someday someone will open a true Chicago Style Hot Dog Joint in GR.

BEST. EVER. best ever what? well, i LOVE the dogs. hot, soft steamed buns, a huge variety of toppings. I've tried at least half of the hot dog menu (skipping the spicy ones, although my husband LOVES them, and we often wish we had more stomachs when we are there). Best ever hot dogs. best ever chili. BEST EVER FRIES. yes, and try them with the incredible ranch dressing. to die for! we've shared this extraordinary restaurant on our site, wandering educators. we love the owners - SO friendly and they always have a big smile for us. so, last time, my husband and daughter really raved about the hamburgers. she always gets the alfredo and the whole time we're there, has a huge smile on her face. when these 2 said best hamburgers ever, i thought they were crazy. i mean, my husband is a hamburger connoisseur. so i'd been jonesing for a week and we finally headed to downtown GR yesterday. well? WORTH THE HOUR DRIVE. truly, best hamburger ever. crispy on the edges, super tasty with fresh meat (fresh ground daily, the owners say, is the key), that perfect steamed bun. WOW. so yes, best. Ever.

Surprise! There is a truly good Coney shop in Grand Rapids! I was there this week for business, was in need of sustenance, and randomly chose this place to eat b/c it was convenient. WIN! I love hot dogs. I get excited when I try new hot dog places but am often disappointed. Not this time! The menu is solid with a selection of burgers, hot dogs, fries, drinks, etc. A couple of unique twists are that they offer two chilis (Flint and Detroit) and both are spot on. They even let me try both to see which one I preferred. They also offer deep fried hot dogs. Yes, you read that right. Not corn dogs, but deep fried goodness. Oh, yeah! Their fries are hand cut each day and double fried. The hot dogs (as mentioned in several reviews) are natural casing Vienna which makes such a big difference. The manager was super nice as well. I ordered a Detroit Chili dog, a barbecue deep fried hot dog, and chili fries with a drink. All were excellent. In fact I've been craving another deep fried hot dog since I left the building. More good news-it cost less than $10. Another win. My only (mild) criticisms are that the menu could have a bit more variety and the staff (other than the manager) was a bit disconnected. I'm not one to search 10 pages of a menu, but had my wife been with me there would not have been a single option for her. I will definitely return and suggest others do the same. Happy, happy.

We went here for lunch at the suggestion of a friend when we were in town for ArtPrize...and liked it so well we went back with relatives for lunch the next day before leaving town for home. Loved the dogs, but the Belgian-style fries were really worth the price of admission! You get a choice of a dozen or so coney dogs (Detroit, Flint, Chicago, etc styles), and a combo with a dog, big cone of fries and a pop will only set you back about $7...plenty filling for lunch. I liked the Grand Rapids style coney with chili, mustard, ketchup, onions and shredded dill pickles. I'm usually not a fan of ketchup or onions on my coneys, but the combo of ingredients really worked for me here. The also have a few burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches on the menu. Service was speedy, and the staff was friendly. You order at the counter, get your pop from a self-serve machine, and they bring the dogs on out to your table for you. This place is small...maybe two dozen seats in all...but its a cute ambiance for a quick lunch. Tips are donated to a local charity, and they ask folks contributing to sign a placard that they post on the wall each month. I also loved the fact that they carried a Detroit favorite...the -only- ginger ale, IMHO...Vernor's!

Having grown up on the east side of the state I know what a Detroit style coney should be like. This is it! They grill the dogs, that gives them flavor and texture. The NY coney (a kraut dog) was right on too. The fries are different than most coney joints but VERY good. The concept of different regional dogs is GREAT! The people are very friendly and love what they do. I'll have a name plate on a stool there in no time. I plan to be there a lot.

Went back a 2nd time recently... another great trip. Fresh toppings, fresh fries, great service. This place rocks. We try to go in between lunch and dinner. If I had to say one thing negative about this store, is that it is small... I've never seen it busy, but I could see coming at lunch and having no where to sit. But great stuff... will be back next time I am in GR

Tip #1 - This isn't Yesterdog, and doesn't compare apples to apples. I fell in love with this place on the second visit. The dogs and fries are always cooked excellent, and the special item at the top of the board is always good and fun! My favorite dogs so far are the Bacon+Ranch (dog wrapped in bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, ranch dressing) and the Detroit dog (chili+mustard+cheese+onion) I'd take OSCS over Ritz Coney any day of the week. While Ritz is good, their dogs are regular ole hotdogs... Great stuff and a favorite lunch spot of mine!

Not only the best coney fries in town, but possibly the best coney fries we've ever had. The detroit-style chili is dead on. No other place in town gets it right like they do! The belgian pommes frites are amazing - YUM! And with fountain Vernor's to wash it all down...we think we're in love. The burger and hot dogs were good, but it's the coney fries that will keep us coming back.

We visited this little hot dog stand before attending a Griffins game down the street on 10/28/11. They have an eclectic menu of hot dogs and burgers. I was happy to see that you could substitute a veggie dog for any of the hot dogs since I do not eat red meat. I chose the Picasso which was advertised as being spicy and had so many jalapenos that I had to take most of them off. My husband had the GR dog which is like Detroit coney with a few extras. We both had the combo which came with Belgian fries and a fountain drink. The fries were excellent! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Very reasonable prices - $14 for 2 combos. Service from the 2 artsy guys behind the counter was courteous and efficient. Only criticism is it's only open until 7:00 on weeknights and 11:00-3:00 on Saturday.

Moving from out of town, I have lived in some fabulous hot dog cities including Chicago and Los Angeles. As of now, I am declaring One Stop the best dog in Grand Rapids. They use Koegel vienna style dogs which have a natural casing. Let me explain, if you are not using a natural casing dog, then get out of the hot dog business....stick with baloney! They also grill the dogs which makes a huge difference since most GR places boil em. That dry snap makes it a textural nirvana.....They have all kinds of excellent dog configurations. The chicago dog is a classic (including celery salt!), the flint chili dog was my personal favorite, the detroit chili was a little too loose for my tastes. They also do the southern classic 'slaw dog (good fresh slaw). Their fries are belgian style and outta control good...fresh cut on the premises. They also serve them such bonus toppings as curry mustard, garlic ketchup or good ole mayo. They were super friendly, and I even got a frequent eater card....buy 10 get 1 free. The main negative was that Channel 13 was in their asking me how I liked my dog and who I was going to vote for in the governors race. I just looked at the camera like an idiot so they wouldnt use my footage..... As a post-mortem comment on GR dogs in general: While Yesterdog has great toppings their dogs totally blow (fabulous ambiance though). Same for Crazy Charlies in Gaslight ( a little better, but no ambiance).

Some of the best fries I've ever had and the condiment selection was great! My husband loved the curry mayo and I really enjoyed the garlic ketchup. I'm a big fan of the Chicago-style dog but tried the GR style, for a change of pace, and it was good. I do have to admit that I'm not a fan of Koegel dogs but I also wonder if it would have been better ripped (deep fried). I preferred this to Yesterdog (sorry!). I must admit that my taste for this sort of food has changed a lot since I moved out of GR to Chicago and discovered the all-beef Chicago-style dog (better yet, Chicago style toppings on a Polish!). Regarless, I would go back to try some other dogs and maybe even a burger. I saw the Alfredo burger on the board and am intrigued...

A lot of folks want to compare this place to Yesterdog, but I think they have distinct characteristics that make them both unique. One Stop has the better meat; a high quality frank that is cooked on a flat top as opposed to boiled that gives it a nice texture with a decent snap, unlike Yesterdog's franks which tend to be mushy. The only issue I had last visit was that my dogs weren't on the grill long enough so they were not as warm as I like. One Stop has a variety of dogs to please a variety of tastes. (The chili on the Flint dog deserves mention: it is firm and sticks together so you don't get a sloppy chilli mess when you eat it). Yesterdog's dogs all taste pretty much the same. One Stop has fries; Yesterdog attempts to get by with bags of chips. This would be an automatic plus for One Stop on its own, but not only do they have fries, they have awesome fries-among the best in town. Sliced with the skin on, fried perfectly, and not over seasoned (like Hopcat-although their Crack Fries are still pretty awesome...). The curry mustard dipping sauce is ultra tasty. If you go for the fries and skip the dogs it's still a worthwhile trip. Unlike Yesterdog, the staff at One Stop is very friendly. The place is clean and bright, I've enjoyed all of my visits there. Having said all that, I still like Yesterdog. While their dog quality is suspect, the staff occasionally surly, the extras few and cheap, their dogs have a unique GR taste that I've found nowhere else. I grew up on Ultradogs so it's hard for me to disrespect them too much. One Stop is great; I don't get there near often enough, and I want to try their burgers. Everyone should check it out. But I still need to get my Ultradog fix once in awhile...

Super friendly people, nice place, fries were great! I wasn't a huge fan of the hotdogs though - don't like them grilled as much as I like other places in town. It also seemed a little on the pricey side for hotdogs.

LOVE this place. Food is good (great fries - Belgian - and a variety of different hot dogs to chose from), great service and the owners are very friendly. They donate tips to different charities. I used to work by OSCS and still visit because the food was so great. The prices are very cheap and you couldn't ask for a nicer place.

Fries are delicious, the people are very friendly. My Chicago style dog should have had onions, but otherwise it was good. I'll definitely be back.

OK, I've read many a review on this place and decided to give it a go this past weekend.. My wife and I were driving home and she wanted hot dogs. Well, she wanted Yesterdog and since I'd rather eat my own arm, we agreed on One Stop. We walked in about 10 minutes before closing and hurried our selections so we wouldn't keep them that long. I decided on a Chicago Dog and I think it was called an Old School Dog. Had mustard and fries on it. The dog menu is large and all of them look great. As do the burgers. We decided for take out as they were closing. I'm sure if we ate there, when it was open a bit longer, we would have ordered more and they would have tasted amazing. It's definitely not a fast food joint. Everything is cooked to order and it takes a wee bit. but it's worth it. Koegel hot dogs are amazing. We got home and unwrapped these weiners. They were very good. I'm sure better if eaten in house, but for a 5 min journey home, quite tasty! I look forward to trying many other menu items in the future.
